Do you have back up equipment?
Yes, we always carry a back up computer, speaker and mixer with us as well as plenty of extra
cables. The only snafu we would have is if your venue runs into an electrical issue (insert
"knock on wood" here).
Will you travel?
We will travel up to 500 miles from Gurnee, IL. There is a charge for mileage over 50 miles
away and there may be a lodging fee for greater distances. We'd love to travel further, but
the logistics of transporting our equipment will keep us from enjoying any work-related
Can we see you in action?
Yes! We have showcases every couple of months and we encourage you to attend one of
these to see and hear us. Check for our next event here. Please note, in light of Covid, these
events have been put on hold.
So, all you do is play music?
That is only part of what we do! Your event has a lot of different facets to it, and while I am playing the music for your event, I'm also watching over the coordination of the day and emceeing the event. As the emcee I'm helping facilitate the wedding and reception. For example, I will keep an eye on venue staff so I can tell when food is close to being served. I will help locate someone who is needed for a speech. Or I have even delicately delayed a ceremony when I noticed an issue that arouse with the guests. The job of an emcee changes with every event and I have the flexibility and professionalism to handle the coordination your event needs.
How long have you been a DJ and how many events have you done?
I have been DJ'ing since 2014 and have conducted well over a hundred events consisting of weddings, parties and bar events.
What makes you different than other DJs?
I truly enjoy what I do and being a part of so many important celebrations is an amazing thing. Many other DJs likely love their job for the same reason. While this may not make me any different, I can guarantee you that your celebration is as important to me as it is to you. Our attention to details and personal touch set us above many others.
Will you play every request you receive from a guest?
Honestly, no, and this is for several reasons: I will not play a request if it is on your "do not play" list. I won't play a song that is vulgar or obscene (unless bride/groom request it). I won't play a slow song when the dance floor is packed with high energy (however, I may be able to work this in later in the evening). And sometimes I get so many requests that the night just isn't long enough.
Will you participate in an outdoor ceremony?
Yes, we will. But weather is of course a concern when involving electrical equipment. We have a tent that we can use in very mild wet weather (and you must be okay with the tent's presence), but in extreme weather or blowing rain we would not be able to set up outdoors. If the weather is hot, we will need to use a fan to keep the equipment from overheating.
What do you do if you don't have a must-have monumental song?
We will ask for these monumental songs ahead of time to ensure we have them or are able to find them. In some rare cases we may ask if you have the song and can share it with us, but we have many ways to find the song on our own first and are successful most of the time. We will be in touch with your venue prior to your event to ask about WiFi connectivity. This way we can download a guest request on-the-fly if we happen to be faced with a challenge.
What will you do to motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
I pay attention while playing songs and can generally tell what genre of music the crowd is feeling. I can work with different song selections to get the crowd moving and have many go-to songs that almost always get the dance floor packed.
What will you wear?
We will be dressed like a guest for your event. If you have a specific dress code for your event, please let us know of this and we will try to accommodate. We have to say "try", no telling what request we could open ourselves up to... During set up we may wear a T-shirt to save the button down shirt from the inevitable stickiness of a hot summer's day, but we will change before the first guest shows up.
Are you insured?
Yes, we have full liability insurance through a major insurance company.
Do you offer a written contract?
Yes, we utilize a digital signature service, but we do have a contract that must be signed to fully secure your date.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Check, money order or credit card via Square.
What if something happens to you and you can't make it to the wedding?
While I would love to say this would never happen, we all know life at times has other plans. I do have a network of other DJs and I (or my business partner/wife in the case I cannot) will be able to find someone to fill in for us. If time allows, we will do everything we can so that you can meet that DJ before your event. We will also cover any difference in cost ourselves.
